Dr Gorab is a board certified orthopedic surgeon practicing in Orange, California. He is one of the managing partners of Orthopaedic Specialty Institute, the largest subspecialty orthopedic surgery practice in Orange County comprised of 17 orthopedic specialists. Dr Gorab's practice is limited to joint replacement and arthritis surgery and he performs over 550 joint replacement procedures per year. He is an attending physician and former department chairman at St Joseph Hospital in Orange, and an Associate Professor of Orthopedics at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine. He is a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the California Orthopaedic Association, and the Western Orthopaedic Association.
Dr Gorab received his undergraduate education at Colgate University in Upstate New York. He completed his medical education at the University of Pittsburgh, graduating as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha national medical honor society and receiving the Lange Outstanding Achievement Award from the university. Dr Gorab completed his surgical internship and orthopaedic residency at the University of California, Irvine. He then completed an additional fellowship year in joint replacement and arthritis surgery at the renowned Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio.
Dr Gorab is actively involved in surgeon education, design, and development of orthopedic implants and procedures. He is a US designer for a partial knee replacement implant manufactured by a Stryker Orthopedics, a major orthopedic implant vendor, and was also one of the clinical investigators for several FDA Investigational Device studies pertaining to hip replacement implants and bearing surfaces manufactured by DePuy, Johnson & Johnson Corporation. Dr Gorab is actively involved in several orthopedic research and development projects. He has published a number of articles in the orthopaedic literature pertaining to arthritis and joint replacement surgery and has presented at numerous conferences both nationally and internationally on arthritis and joint replacement procedures. Dr Gorab is president of the Orthopaedic Research and Education Institute of Southern California, a non-profit medical foundation which supports physician education, clinical research, and medical education to allied health providers and the surrounding communities.
Dr Gorab's wife, Lisa, is a practicing pediatrician and he has two children. His recreational interests are primarily athletic and he is very active in youth sports. He played collegiate soccer at Colgate University, continues to play in competitive ice hockey leagues, enjoys mountain biking, and is an avid downhill skier.
